Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

The Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation is a division of the University of Missouri School of Medicine.

Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital

Affiliated with the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine, the Veterans hospital provides care and treatment to eligible veterans from throughout Missouri. A full continuum of care is provided in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Health Communication Research Center (HCRC)

The mission of the Health Communication Research Center at the Missouri School of Journalism is to foster research to improve communication between the health care community and the public. The center coordinates interdisciplinary research efforts in health communication and provides support to researchers conducting pilot studies and developing proposals for extramural funding. MARRTC is part of the HCRC.

Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE)

Investigative Reporters and Editors, Inc. is a grassroots not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of investigative reporting. IRE is located at the Missouri School of Journalism. IRE is collaborating with MARRTC on several research projects.

Missouri School of Journalism

The School of Journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia was established in 1908, making it the world’s first school of journalism. Several MARRTC projects have been affiliated with the Missouri School of Journalism.

National Center for Farmworker Health (NCFH)

The National Center for Farmworker Health, established in 1974, is dedicated to improving the health status of farmworker families by providing information services and products to a network of more than 500 migrant health center service sites in the United States as well as other organizations and individuals serving the farmworker population.

National Institute on Disability Rehabilitation and Research (NIDRR)

The National Institute on Disability Rehabilitation and Research, part of the U.S. Department of Education, is MARRTC’s funding agency. NIDRR conducts research and related activities to assist in the social integration, employment, and independent living of people with disabilities.

National Newspaper Association (NNA)

Located at the Missouri School of Journalism, the NNA is the nation’s largest association of community newspapers with 2,500 member newspapers and a combined readership of some 120 million people. The NNA is collaborating with MARRTC on some of its research projects.

Stanford Patient Education Center

The Stanford Patient Education Research Center is part of the Department of Medicine at the Stanford University School of Medicine, located in Palo Alto, Calif. Over the past 24 years, they have developed, tested, and evaluated self-management programs for English and Spanish speakers with chronic health problems.

U.S. Department of Education

In 1980, the U.S. Department of Education was created by bringing together offices from several other departments. Its mission is to ensure equal access to education and to promote educational excellence throughout the nation.
