Arthritis Foundation Exercise (formerly known as PACE)
Description: The movements in this program were selected and developed by physical therapists to address the pain, fatigue and decreased strength that often accompanies arthritis, fibromyalgia, or other rheumatological disorders. Most classes choose to include a balance of gentle stretching movements that are suitable for every fitness level, plus strengthening and endurance activities appropriate to participants enrolled. People enrolled in these community-based programs have lots of fun and report:
  • Decreased pain
  • Encreased energy, flexibility and range of motion
  • Improved sleep, balance, outlook and overall health

Chronic Disease Self-Management Course
Live Like Your Life Depends on It

Description: This interactive program meets for 2 - 2 1/2 hours during six weekly workshop sessions. It is helpful for adults pursuing a healthy lifestyle as well as for adults living with risk for chronic conditions or experiencing one or more long-term health issues. The program was developed by Stanford University researchers to help people with chronic conditions gain self-confidence in their ability to manage their own health problems. They must deal not only with their disease or diseases, but also with the impact these have on their lives. The sessions provide information about issues related to a variety of conditions including: diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, fibromyalgia, respiratory disease, stroke and others. The focus is to help each individual find options for managing multiple symptoms, improving communication and finding appropriate resources. The workshop series emphasizes helping and learning form one another through sharing experiences. It compliments the professional services offered by a health care team.

Please Note: Regional Arthritis Centers no longer sponsor an aquatic exercise program. To find an aquatic exercise location in your area contact the Arthritis Foundation.
